Best money I’ve spent in a long time

by Nora Rubinoff on June 17, 2010

I’m a couch potato.  I admit it. I need to move more in my day. I can’t always get to the gym, and it’s too tempting many times to just fuggedaboutit.

I have a fantastic treadmill at home, and I have lots of time spent reviewing email or project planning that doesn’t require much physical effort. Enter my shiny new treadmill desk.

Dr. James Levine of the Mayo Clinic determined that if people replaced 8 hours of computing in their chair with 8 hours of computing on a treadmill desk, they could lose, on average, 57 pounds a year! While I’m not quite ready to spend 8 hours a day at my treadmill desk, I can see myself easily starting with several hours a day.

We’re not talking about high speed here — just walking at 1 mile per hour. So far, my new little treadmill desk has been money well-spent, and has helped get me out of my chair.

What a great idea Nora. Do you still use this?

Hi Taryn – I sure do. It works great and it’s a nice way to get some movement added to your work day.
