A teenager friendly lunch or snack

It’s summer.  The kids are home. As a virtual assistant, you are still at work. Nevertheless, you’ve got to juggle both.

Lifehacker is one of my favorite sources for tech info, but they have other great hacks to enhance your life as well. A while back, Lifehacker had a blog entry on Freezing ground meat in small portions with a chopstick that really caught our eye as a great idea for quick meals — especially for hungry teens and crazy schedule days.

I have a hungry 13 year old who is taking summer gym all morning every morning. He comes home famished and impatient for lunch.  I tried the technique mentioned on Lifehacker for freezing ground meat (I used turkey) in small portions, thinking I’d make thin, “Wendy’s Style” hamburgers that Ben could break off and cook quickly on the Foreman grill for a fast, hot and meaty lunch.

I did not do a grid of 9 squares on my ground turkey as the post on Lifehacker showed. I pressed it into the freezer bag and scored it with a chopstick, dividing it into 4 squares.

Ben cooked the patty straight from the freezer (because it’s very thin) on a Foreman grill lightly coated with cooking spray for 4 minutes, flipped it, then another minute and a half. He’s making plans to impress all his hungry friends by making hamburgers for snacks when they come for overnights this summer.
